Hi! My name is Bri and I am the owner & designer of Orange Blossom Accessories.

It all began in the summer of 2023 when I stumbled upon the captivating world of lampwork glass art. At the time, I was a jewelry buyer and designer at Urban Outfitters. I was doing research for a future jewelry assortment when I stumbled upon a small business making beautiful one-of-a-kind glass jewelry pieces. I fell in LOVE!

Fast track a few months I left Urban Outfitters, moved back to my hometown, and started a new job as a buyer at another company. I found myself missing the creative outlet had in designing in my previous role, and in the back of my mind I still had the fascination with the glass jewelry brand I was once mesmerized by. That's when I had the genius idea to buy a torch and start playing with fire. I am fully self taught and have been making glass art since September 2023. It is my passion and I am so happy to have found this world.

 

How do I make the jewelry?

Great question! With a LOT of heat. Using a torch, I melt glass rods and transform them into jewelry. It's like painting..but with fire. The torch can get upto 2,400 degrees Fahrenheit! Each and every glass creation is made by hand and takes anywhere from 10 to 45 minutes of spinning, poking, and shaping colorful glass rods over the flame.

Afterwards they are set in a kiln that has been preheating at 1000 degrees Fahrenheit! Told you it was a lot of heat! The kiln then slowly (and I mean very slowly) cools the beads back to room temp (...6 hours later) in order to strengthen the glass and reduce the possibility of micro cracks! This ensures longevity and reduces the risk of the pieces breaking. It is basically a VERY hot microwave oven. I then clean the beads and turn them into jewelry for you! ...and sometimes me because I like to keep a lot of pieces.
